Power series racing returns to Killarney

Fans of motor racing should get themselves to Killarney on Saturday, February 21, when the The Sports & GT Section series resumes in all earnest. The event has a new main sponsor in the form of Crossley & Webb, who are the top Classic Car Dealers in Cape Town.

Among the regular racers are Francis Carruthers, the 2014 Champion, in his well-prepared Juno Nissan V6. Steve Humble is driving the lesser-powered Juno Honda. Dawie Joubert’s Lotus Exige has had its teething troubles sorted out and should make things interesting up front. Class B is an all-Porsche affair with Gary Kieswetter, Matt Kreeve and Keith Fourie challenging.
Class C is a mixture of Cars – Lola T212 (Louis de Jager), Nardini (Gavin Gorman), Lotus 23 Replica (Eric Salomon) and Porsche 911’s (Colin Plit and Peter van der Spuy).

Fans will be pleased to see the return of Martin Pugh’s Lola T212 in Class D, with Godfrey Lancellas in a similar car.
Ray Farnham is back after a double knee replacement. His Lotus 7 is just as quick as ever and should give Hennie Trollip and Marcus Henkel some competition in similar cars. Clinton Thorne has swopped his Lotus 7 for a Harper, and will be challenging Andre Ferreira in a similar Car.

Paul Beachy-Head will also be back with the immaculate Audi R8. The Porsche 911’s of Maarten Prins and Cyril Ginsburg are very closely matched.
Paul Schwartz (GT40) is the Lone Ranger in Class E.
The Race day also includes Clubmans, GTI Challenge, Supercars, Formula Libra and all classes of motor cycles.
* Racing starts at 10am.
