Eddie Jordan – the boss of the former Formula 1 Jordan team – will be back for the third year with a bunch of his mates for a proper Irish shindig at Studio 7 in Sea Point. Join in on the fun on Friday, January 16, from 9pm onwards for an evening of absorbing stories, sing along tunes, great music, some good banter and of course some dancing.
This is set to be more of an informal Studio 7 experience and get together. With Jordan on the drums, Luca on vocals and a few other surprises it promises to be a memorable evening out. Rumour has it a certain Mike (Mechanics) and Matt (Stones) may pop in for a jam.
Studio 7 was founded by Patrick Craig in early 2010 after he hosted a dinner with some of his close friends and musicians. What started out as an evening-turned-jam-session has developed into a venue that has hosted some of the top musicians both locally and internationally.
When asked what he hopes to get out of every Studio 7 session, Craig said, “I want both the musician and the people watching to feel like they just went on a first date.
It’s a bit awkward to start, its intimate, it has an air of let’s see what happens, there is a moment of complete amazement and at the end, my goal is that both parties walk away feeling excited and wanting more. More of that kind of music in their lives.”
The unique space enables artists to engage with the crowd like never before. It challenges each and every artist that comes through the doors as most of them get so caught up in their regular live set routines and motions.
There is no stage, no fancy lighting and no powerful sound system. It is stripped down in every way. It’s about allowing the artist to share their experience, play around with new tracks or ideas, to an exclusive crowd that has really come to listen and pay attention to what they do best.
* Studio 7 is situated on 213 High Level Rd, Sea Point.
