Theatre lovers can look forward to a screening of the critically-acclaimed Broadway revival of John Steinbeck’s ‘Of Mice and Men’ at the The Fugard Bioscope on Sunday, January 11, at 11am, as part of their 2014 & 2015 World Cinema Season.
Directed by Tony Award winner Anna D. Shapiro, the production stars Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner James Franco, BAFTA and Tony Award nominee Chris O`Dowd, Leighton Meester (from ‘Gossip Girl’ fame) and Tony and Olivier Award winner Jim Norton.
Of ‘Mice and Men’ began as a novella published in 1937 by Nobel Prize winner Steinbeck. Adapted from his own classic novel, ‘Of Mice and Men’ is an essential adventure, an inspirational portrait of the American spirit and a heart-breaking testament to the bonds of friendship.
The play tells the story of George (James Franco) and Lennie (Chris O`Dowd), an unlikely pair of friends drifting from job to job across the farms and fields of California, holding fast to their dream of one day having an acre of land they can call their own.
