On September 29 we took one of our readers for a skin mapping and to date she has seen amazing results, starting with clear skin, radiance and a healthy glow.
Below we answer some of your questions regarding this process:
1. What is a face mapping
Face Mapping was designed by The International Dermal Institute to use exclusively with Dermalogica products and to be done by a certified Dermalogica skincare therapist.
To take the skin analysis to the next level, they have divided the face into 14 individual zones. By utilizing the consultation card, touching and observing the skin and through communication with the client, they are able to identify skin concerns as well as their probable cause and then provide a solution.
2. Why is it important to have this done
Through Face Mapping you are educated about your skin, as well as advised on the best treatments and home care products to target your unique skin concerns.
3. Where can this be done?
Face Mapping can be done at any Dermalogica Concept Store, or at any skincare centre stocking Dermalogica.
4. Is there a fee for this?
Face Mapping skin analysis is complimentary, as it is the first step to skin health.
5. What products are recommended for a) oily skin; b)normal/combination skin; and c) dry skin?
(We recommend doing a Face Mapping skin analysis prior to purchasing your products, but here are some options for these skin types)
a.) Oily skin – Dermal Clay Cleanser, Oil Control Lotion, Oil Free Matte SPF30, Skin Prep Scrub and Skin Refining Masque.
b.) Combination skin – Special Cleansing Gel, Multi-Active Toner, Skin Smoothing Cream, Solar Defense Booster SPF50, Daily Microfoliant and Skin Hydrating Masque.
c.) Dry skin – Essential Cleansing Solution, Antioxidant Hydramist, Intensive Moisture Balance, Solar Defense Booster SPF50, Gentle Cream Exfoliant and MultiVitamin Power Recovery Masque.
1. How different is the microZone from a face mapping?
A microZone is a 20 minute target specific skin treatment where the focus is on your main skin concerns, or concerns in a specific zone. They make use of a Face Mapping skin analysis during a microZone skin treatment to identify your skin concerns to focus on during your microZone treatment.
2. What treatments would you recommend for acne skin?
The MediBac Clearing system treatment works to treat, clear and prevent adult acne without compromising skin’s integrity.
3. How many treatments are required to see results?
Because all skins are different and you get different degrees of Acne it is difficult to say how many treatments you require. However, you will see a change in your skin after one treatment, but your skin care therapist can then further advise on how many treatments you would require to get the results you are looking for. A minimum of six treatments is usually recommended.
These are just some of the answers to your many questions. If you have any other queries, please contact me directly and I will get you in touch with a consultant suitable for your type of skin concerns.
