This coming Saturday, November 8, will see the final Championship round for the Sports & GT Category at Killarney. After the last Race the points standing was Francis Carruthers on 173; Louis de Jager on 156 and Cyril Ginsburg and Maarten Prins both on 136. With a possible 39 points to be gained for this last event, any one of the present top 4 could walk away with the Championship, so the competition is expected to be electric.
Apart from Francis Carruthers in Class A there will be the pretty Lotus Exige of Dawie Joubert and Steve Humble’s potent Mallock Mk14B. A few other interesting entries received include Paul Beachy-Head in the immaculately turned out Audi RB, his brother Mike in a Porsche 917 Replica 4.5L, Alan Dike in the Mazda Tiga GT2B5 and appearing in his first outing this year after a long break will be Eric Salomon in the Toyota Elf 506. Apart from Mike Beachy-Head’s 917 there are another seven Porsche entries of various types, including the beautifully turned out Martini Porsche driven by Andre Bezuidenhout.
There will also be two Lola T2t2 Toyotas, entered by Louis de Jager and Godfrey Lancellas; two Nardini’s entered by Mike Verrier and Gavin Gorman; and two Lotus 7 Replicas entered by Clinton Thorne and Hennie Trollip. A lone Harper entered by Alan de Goede will complete the field.
So far a number of 2L entries have been received, with Class D the most competitive, so apart from the big guns up front, there will be a tense battle going on in this Class, especially as two Class D cars, Cyril Ginsburg and Maarten Prins’s, are in the running for Championship Honours.
So get down to Killarney on Saturday and experience the thrill and excitement of top-class Racing
