The fast and dirty sexy comedy ‘Last Rounds’ is returning to the theatre hotspot that is the Alexander Bar. Catch the flirty, alcohol infused action from Thursday, November 6, until Saturday, November 15. Described by its creators as the TV show ‘Girls’ meets ‘Notting Hill’, with a dash of ‘High Fidelity’ thrown in for good measure, ‘Last Rounds’ is a hard edged examination of romance, whiskey, and the tunes that form a soundtrack to our triumphs and failures.
It’s 2am. The final bell for last orders has been rung. The Hopeless Modern Romantic sits at the dirty bar, stirring her whiskey with a straw, watching the door for him. She’s just a girl, sitting in a bar, waiting for a boy – a boy who she realises just may not arrive.
The production features the dynamic duo of Rebecca Makin-Taylor, who recently made waves in Louis Viljoen’s acclaimed ‘The Kingmakers, and was nominated for a Fleur du Cap Award for her performance in the one woman show ‘Expectant’ earlier this year; and writer/director Tara Notcutt, who recently helmed Rafiek Mammon’s play ‘The Garage Sale’ at the Artscape Arena theatre as part of the 10th Spring Drama Season.
‘Last Rounds’ also played at the National Arts Festival in Grahamstown as part of the Cape Town Edge in June and July.
