Cavendish Square Charity Book Sale now on

Cavendish Square shopping centre in Claremont is gearing up to once again host the Charity Book Sale, at which more than 30 charities will congregate to raise funds for their organizations and causes.
The second hand book sale will take place on the ground and lower ground floors of Cavendish Square from Thursday, August 28 to 31. Participating charities include the Woodside Special Care Centre, Beauty without Cruelty, Cape Kidney Association and TEARS.
Bev Whelehan, the charity convener, who has been driving the book sale, believes that the event has become integral to the plight of the many charities involved. “It has now become the main fundraiser of the majority of the participating charities.” said Whelehan.
Last year, the charities managed to raise R424770 and the hope is that they are able to exceed this amount at this year’s Charity Book Sale.
Encouraging the public to visit the Charity Book Sale, Cavendish Square’s Marketing Manager, Tanja Gerber, says, “the act of browsing and purchasing books of all genres, while making a difference in the lives of others, proves to be a great family outing”.

* The public may drop off second hand books at the Cavendish Square information desks.
