There’s such a weekend of fun events that lie ahead that I often wonder why Capetonians aren’t afforded a three day weekend, so we can enjoy more of what the city has to offer. Nevertheless, there’s a lot going on over The Next 48hOURS, so try and fit in as much as you can.

The Mariners Wharf Stand Up Paddleboard challenge is taking place at Houtbay Beach on Saturday from 10am, with 10km, or 3km distances. There are great prizes up for grabs. If you’ve never see what can be done on a Stand Up Paddleboard, why not head down to the beach and show your support.
If you enjoy your adrenaline sports, why not head to Kogelberg Biosphere for the Gravity Adventure Festival that offers everything from kayaking; trail running; mountain biking and a mile swim.

There’s also something to keep the youngsters busy in the kids adventure zone.
And if you’d prefer a different kind of adventure why not board a train and enjoy an eco-friendly township tour of Cape Town’s oldest township – Langa. This is not just a train ride but a day of giving back, as this includes a cultural tour with a variety of volunteer work included. I can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday.

We also list a number of events on our website www.48hours.co.za, so feel free to Tweet me @liezelv with any other events that are happening in your neighbourhood.
