Pop and rock’s ‘Forever Young’ remembered in new show

‘Forever Young’ is an energetic tribute show that is dedicated to icons and singers who remain etched in the collective memory. Catch the action at the Barnyard Theatre at Willowbridge until June 1.
Featuring an 11-piece cast, vibrant choreography and colourful costumes, ‘Forever Young’ will take audiences on a journey through the music of the late, great legends of pop and rock.

The show starts when Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper had a fatal aviation accident after performing at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake, Iowa. These three icons created a culture in popular music; they will always be referred to as Forever Young. The show honours these and other great performers and musicians who made their mark in rock ‘n roll history.

‘Forever Young’ remembers all notable figures in the world of music, everyone from king of rock ‘n roll Elvis Presley to the King of Pop Michael Jackson. Audiences can also look forward to the soulful sounds of Louis Armstrong, Barry White and Ray Charles. The rock casualties from the sixties aren’t forgotten, as the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison and Eddie Cochran are also paid tribute to.
The legendary Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin, members of The Rat Pack, are also remembered. Then there is the seductive Marilyn Monroe, not to mention figureheads of their time like of Roy Orbison, Patsy Cline and Nina Simone and the brothers Robin, Maurice and Andy Gibb, also known as The Bee Gees.

More recent iconic singers who left their mark on the popular musical landscape are also featured, such as John Lennon, Freddie Mercury, Whitney Houston, Michael Hutchence of INXS, Donna Summers and Bob Marley.
So if the opening chords of an old tune fill you with nostalgia, ‘Forever Young’ could be the show for you.
