The humorous sketch comedy show ‘Dirty Words’, created by acclaimed theatre maker Jon Keevy and written by Jack Hardcastle, is having a short run at the Alexander Bar in Strand Street. Performances take place at 9pm nightly until Wednesday, April 30.
The show was born in the fast and loose crucible that is Alexander Upstairs’ own monthly experimental platform, ‘Play Things’. Immediately it became a cult sensation. Filthy, explicit and funny, ‘Dirty Words’ pulls back the covers on erotica, chat sex, dirty talk and naughty, sexy grammar. In seven sketches Alicia McCormick and Kim Kerfoot turn up the raunch, slipping in sexy tongue twisters and burlesque shenanigans. (Slight warning: the show contains all the dirty words and also some almost nudity.)
McCormick is the straight-laced alter ego of burlesque sensation Cookie Von Tastee. She has starred in plays like ‘An Absolute Turkey’ and ‘Hitched’. Kerfoot is a director responsible for celebrated shows like ‘Statements Made After an Arrest under the Immorality Act’ (Fleur Du Cap for Best New Director), ‘Closer’ and ‘Get Kraken!’ (Standard Bank Ovation Award at National Arts Festival 2013). ‘Dirty Words’ is one of his rare onstage moments.
