Mother City set for a holiday feast of décor & design

Some of the Western Cape’s leading designers form part of the line up at this year’s Decorex Cape Town that takes place over the Freedom Day long weekend. With more than 300 exhibits, the exhibition at the CTICC is part of the successful Decorex SA portfolio that is Africa’s largest décor, design and lifestyle exhibition.

Some of the highlights to look forward to include:
• Sobeit Studio Designs Your Life – The theme of this year’s show is “Design Your Life” – reflecting the current trend towards finding the décor and design style that suits you, rather than slavishly following fashion. What better team to interpret this theme than committed individualists Bartel van Vuuren and Liezle Fourie from Sobeit Studio who are likely to do so in a riveting fashion, showcasing their unique concept of “uncomfortable beauty”.

• Greg Mellor in the Decorex Designer Spotlight – Cape Town interior designer Greg Mellor has been invited to create an inspiring space, in collaboration with fabric house St Leger & Viney. With the spirit of global travel and a nostalgia for the exotic adventures of early explorers some of the leading décor trends at the moment, Greg says it is this layering and collection of personal objects, together with block printed fabrics that has inspired the installation he will be creating at Decorex Cape Town.

• Your annual colour update – Plascon will once again showcase their 2014 Colour Forecast, where visitors can see the latest colour trends in action. Plascon won the Best Stand award at Decorex Durban. The theme of this year’s Colour Forecast is Colour Nation and reflects all the vibrant colours that are inspiring paint at the moment. Plascon will have four paint effect talks on the stand each day to answer any colour queries. Visitors can also get their copy of the latest Spaces magazine which is the makeover issue.
100% Design – A new addition to the Decorex Cape Town line-up is the 100% Design South Africa Preview Pavilion. The installation will showcase 100 beautiful things, in celebration of World Design Capital’s theme of (Beautiful Space, Beautiful Things). All the objects, on show will be chosen by 100% Design South Africa Programmes Director, Cathy O’Clery. All the objects are designed and made and in production in 2014.

* Operating times will be 10am to 7pm daily.
