The City of Cape Town will once again play host to one of the biggest annual sporting events – the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon – which takes place over the Easter weekend of 18 and 19 April 2014.

‘We would like to extend a warm welcome to all runners and visitors to the city and hope that they will take some time out to visit some of Cape Town’s many attractions.  We wish all participants the best of luck for the marathon and trust that they will achieve their goals set for this run,’ said the City’s Acting Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Marketing, Alderman Ian Neilson.

The Two Oceans Marathon contributes more than R260 million to the local economy and the pre-event exhibition at the Cape Town International Convention Centre attracts some 50 000 people. The City of Cape Town is both the event’s host and one of its main sponsors and will provide relevant services to ensure yet another enjoyable and successful event.

The City of Cape Town is a proud host and supporter of the Old Mutual Two Oceans Marathon. The event  is beneficial to Cape Town on several levels, bringing thousands of participants and visitors from across the country and the world to our city.  It further reaffirms the city’s status as the events capital of Africa,’ added Alderman Neilson.
