The Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras have qualified for the Final of the RAM Slam T20 Challenge after their empathic six-wicket victory over the Chevrolet Warriors at a packed Sahara Park Newlands on Sunday.
The final will take place on Sunday, February 9, at 2:30 pm and will be broadcast live on Supersport. The Cape Cobras will know who their opponents are on Wednesday evening when the Dolphins & Titans square off in the play offs in Durban.
The RAM Slammer, JP Duminy spearheaded the Cobras’ batting attack as he smashed a brilliant 64 off 39 to help the Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras book their spot in what will be an epic final set in the most scenic ground in the country. Justin Kemp was unbeaten on 26 from 19 and Stiaan van Zyl also contributed to the chase by scoring 23 off 29 balls.
Prof Andre Odendaal, CEO of Western Cape Cricket, confirmed that ticket prices for the final will remain unchanged and said that it was the Cobras’ way of giving back to the loyal fans that supported the team throughout the season.
In addition to the cricket action, FANgS (as fans of the Cobras are known) will also be kept entertained by the District 6 minstrels, who performed over New Year at Sahara Park Newlands. Younger FANgS should get their cameras ready as mascot Coby the Cobra can’t wait to meet everyone on Sunday.
The star-studded Nashua Mobile Cape Cobras have been the best side during the RAM Slam T20 Challenge this season, winning eight out of ten of their round robin match matches.
