CELL C FESTIVAL OF CRICKET:3-5 JANUARY 2014 AT SAHARA PARK NEWLANDS

The inaugural CellC Festival of Cricket will take place at Sahara Park Newlands from 3 – 5January 2014.
The Cell C Festival of Cricket is an exciting three-day event which will see all the current Proteas and Franchise players participating in a New Year cricket extravaganza, which will replace the cancelled Indian Test match.

Day 1 of the Cell C Festival of Cricket will showcase an exhibition match between the Proteas and the Springboks.

Day 2 & 3 of the Cell C Festivalof Cricket will showcase two highly competitive days of T20 cricket. Firstlywith a State of Origin match between North and South sides which takes place on Saturday, 4 January. The North will comprise players who first made their mark at the inland franchises and the South those from the coastal franchises.
This will be followed on Sunday, 6th January, by a first for domestic cricket: the launch of the RAM Slam T20Challenge with a triple header including every franchise team in the country: 6 teams, 3 matches in one venue! Howzat for great cricketainment! It’sgoing to be hot, hot, hot!
These matches will feature and involve all our current stars in the Proteas team, recently crowned South African Team of the Year at the SA Sports Awards. The iconic Sahara Park Newlands, voted the 2nd best Test stadium in the world last season, will play host to this magnificent event.
Spectators will be entertained over the three days by an impressive list of artists that have been confirmed for the Cell C Festival of Cricket. The likes of Prime Circle, The Graeme Watkins Project, BlackByrd, Jack Parow and Marc Belling will be performing.

CSA has confirmed that the muchanticipated North vs. South State of Origin match will be sponsored by MomentumMultiply, who have put up a winner-takes-all prize of a half a million rand forthe match.
