A Festival of Cricket and music at Newlands

Cricket fans will be delighted to know that the inaugural Cell C Festival of Cricket will take place at Sahara Park, Newlands from January 3 to 5.
The exciting three-day event will see all the current Proteas and Franchise players participating in a New Year cricket extravaganza, which will replace the cancelled Indian Test match. Day 1 of the Cell C Festival of Cricket will showcase an exhibition match between the Proteas and the Springboks.

Day 2 and 3 will showcase two highly competitive days of T20 cricket. First up is a State of Origin match between North and South sides which will take place on Saturday, January 4. The North will comprise players who first made their mark at the inland franchises and the South those from the coastal franchises.

This will be followed on Sunday, January 6, with a first for domestic cricket: the launch of the RAM Slam T20 Challenge with a triple header, including every franchise team in the country: six teams and three matches in one venue.
