It is official – Summer has arrived and the Festive Season is in full swing! How do we know this? Well, apart from the insane heat and festive lights down Adderley Street, there’s the Cape Town Summer Market in the Company Gardens.
Starting at midday every day and running to 11pm, this great market has everything from good food, clothes, and other great bits and bobs.
There is also some wonderful music for your market entertainment, and this Thursday, December 19, you can catch Afro-tropical band, Tucan Tucan; SA’s first hip hop crew, Black Noise; and house deejay, DJ Renno all performing from 5pm onwards, in what should be a spectacular evening. On Friday, December 20, reggae group The Rivertones will be performing alongside the Leah Adams Quarter and Marimba Band from 4pm.
You can find the Cape Town Summer Market between Queen Victoria Street, Adderley Street, Orange Street and Hatfield Street in the Cape Town City Centre until December 30. Entrance is free.
On Saturday, December 21, Capetonian jazz bassist, composer and producer Shane Cooper will be at The Mahogany Room, 79 Buitenkant Street in Cape Town. The show kicks-off at 7pm. To book, call 076 679 2697.
Laurie Levine takes to the stage at the Alma Café in Rosebank on Sunday December 22 at 7pm. You don’t want to miss this great South African artist in one of the quaintest places to enjoy Cape Town music. Bookings can be done by calling 021 685 7377.
