When the young Italian acoustic guitar prodigy Andrea Valeri performed in Cape Town two years ago his performances resulted in sold out shows and an instant spike in popularity. After countless requests to return, Valeri will once again appear at the International Guitar Night (IGNSA) Summer Series at the Olympia Bakery in Kalk Bay from Wednesday December 18 to Sunday January 5.
Defined as the Prince of fingerstyle guitar and a new acoustic music ambassador, Valeri is already a veteran of the many acoustic guitar festivals that take place worldwide.
Valeri will share the bill with South African acoustic guitar guru Tony Cox, who will debut new work from his forthcoming album ‘Padkos’. The album features some of the best-known and most well-loved South African songs sourced from a time-span of some 40 years arranged in Cox’s unique guitar playing style. Cox will have several key invited guests to add their own guitar playing charm to music from the album.
Valeri will present a workshop for beginners and non-players on Saturday December 21 at 2pm at Music Experience (situated at Unit 10, Highway Park, Gold Street, Northgate Estate). Entitled ‘The Power of Fingerstyle Guitar’, Valeri will share his prodigious guitar skills with Cape Town’s guitar fanatics. It will be a performance with questions and answers. Note pads, pens and video devices will be welcome. Cost is R100. (For more details and to book call 021 510 4591/2, or send an email to email@example.com.
