The festive season is here, and MyCiTi is ready to transport you to wherever you want to go play this December. For most of this month, buses will also operate till later in the evenings.
Transport for Cape Town (TCT) activated a number of new routes at the end of November, to further expand the MyCiTi network of routes across the Mother City. The launch of these new routes marks the latest step in the realisation of TCT’s vision to create an effective and integrated public transport network. And more routes are scheduled for activation in 2014, as the MyCiTi network grows further.
“You can now make use of MyCiTi buses to go to Camps Bay, the V&A Waterfront, Century City, Melkbosstrand and Big Bay, most of the Cape Town city bowl, as well as the Airport,” says Councillor Brett Herron, Mayoral Committee Member: Transport for Cape Town.
From Monday December 9 to Tuesday December 24, MyCiTi buses will operate later in the evenings. The last bus will depart from the V&A Waterfront and Century City Rail at 10.30pm, and all connecting services (except the Airport) will be extended by an additional 30 minutes.
Anyone wanting to travel on a MyCiTi bus can obtain a myconnect card at a MyCiTi station kiosk or one of the participating retailers, and load travel money on the card. This makes traveling on a MyCiTi bus easy and quick, so no need to carry around cash.
For New Year’s Eve, all services will operate until 1am on the morning of January 1, except for the Century City and Airport services, which will operate as normal.
The MyCiTi website includes a very handy trip planner and fare calculator, with route maps that are linked to Google Maps to make planning your journey even easier.
