The heat is on for Battle Of The Braai Competition

With the mercury rising and Spring in the air, the place to be will be trackside at the Durbanville Racecourse for a day of racing with a tasty twist.

The beautiful country race track will host the Checkers Battle of the Braai Competition on October 19, alongside a fun family day, stacked with quality thoroughbred racing and plenty of fun for the kids.
Brush shoulders with celebrity judges Jenny Morris, Marga Swart, Abdul Isaacs and Tiaan Lambrechts, who will all be on hand to judge the Battle of the Braai Competition.

All contestants for the competition have been confirmed. They will be creating a mouth-watering recipe with the wide selection of A-grade meat available at Checkers including their Steakhouse Classic extra matured steaks, Championship Boerewors and Certified Natural Lamb.

The winner will walk away with a R5000 Checkers voucher; second place will receive a R2500 Checkers voucher and third place a R500 Checkers voucher. Each of the top three winners will also receive a hamper of products from the sponsors.
2013 finalist in the Shoprite Group’s Topstars staff talent competition Abigail Andrew’s will be performing on the day and Bok radio station will be broadcasting live providing the entertainment for the day. Race goers can also enjoy the relaxing vibe of the Beer Garden, taste Checkers’ exclusive Odd Bins wines – wines from leading estates at a fraction of the price – and visit the Checkers Championship Boerewors stand where they will be selling South Africa’s best.

An arts and craft market will also keep the adults entertained while kiddie’s activities will ensure the younger set are kept busy.
As usual there will be a quality racing line-up to keep the adrenalin of a day at the races pumping.
