‘FIFA 14’ is on the shelves of your local retailer at the moment and we got our very own pack to play with and review. So here is the lowdown on Electronic Arts’ latest instalment of the popular football game. Each time a Fifa game comes out, it marks a new development in the games franchise and that’s what we love about this game. ‘FIFA 14’ is all about precision control and player movement.
The folks at Electronic Arts have tweaked the physics engine, making the players react much more realistically and responsively to the gameplay. They also researched soccer ball trajectory and applied it to the game, making the ball behave realistically on those volley shots and long passes. After playing the game we definitely noticed the differences compared to ‘FIFA 13’.
Abdurahman, our resident hardcore gamer, was on hand to share some comments on ‘FIFA 14’.
Here is what he had to say:
“There are over 60 stadiums, including 32 real-world venues. New additions include La Bombonera in Buenos Aires, Goodison Park, which is England’s first purpose-built football stadium, and the Donbass Arena in Ukraine, home of football team Shaktar Donetsk. Playing the game on the PlayStation 3 is quite impressive. The new features are definitely apparent. What I really like about this version of ‘FIFA’ is how realistic the new gameplay is. The decisions made by players and referees can be unpredictable, and that is a welcoming challenge. I think the realism of the game is evident when the play gets stopped because of a foul and the commentator speaks over the referee. The commentator then proceeds to apologise for this on air. It just feels so real, like watching a UEFA Championship League game between two of your favourite teams.”
We are looking forward to seeing what is called the Ignite Engine from Electronic Arts in action, as it will only be used for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions. This will feature both graphical and gameplay changes such as Human Intelligence to make players react more like real humans, complete with those innocent hands in the air fouls we all see in games.
‘FIFA 14’ is available on Android, iOS, Nintendo 3DS, PS2, PS3, PS4, PSP, PS Vita, Wii, PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
