Tienie and Estelle Lindeque purchased a picturesque piece of land in the heart of Stellenbosch during 2008. The Lindeque family love the French way of life and their vision was to establish a boutique wine and olive estate, build their dream house in the French Chateau style and live the dream they worked so hard for to make.
Et voilà! Chateau Beau Belle was born! In addition to the vines, the family established an organic vegetable and herb garden, as well as an olive grove and fruit trees. In fact, they have planted more than 1000 trees since they bought the property. Their extensive planting regime has lured indigenous birds to the property and they are very proud of the Blue crane family they share their land with, as well as the family of Spotted Cape Eagle owls and several moving owl pairs that use the 10 owl boxes on the farm.
The Chateau Beau Belle wine portfolio consists of two ranges; the Cooper Range, named after their first grandson, as well as the Fynbos Range. The Lindeques are passionate about Shiraz and each of the six wines made features this grape. The Cooper Range include a sweet Shiraz that sells for R56 per bottle, a semi-sweet Shiraz Rose at R48 per bottle as well as a pocket friendly dry Shiraz at R60 per bottle. The Fynbos range includes the 2012 Kooigoed Shiraz Rose at R56 per bottle, the 2012 Geneesbos Shiraz at R105 per bottle and the flagship 2010 Reserve Shiraz that sells for R144 per bottle. Distribution deals are being negotiated at the moment, so the easiest way to get hold of these wines would be to order online at www.Beaubelle.co.za.
I adored the Beau Belle Chapel, or Chapelle as the family refer to it and cannot imagine a more perfect venue for a wedding. The Chapelle can seat 50 people and a roaring fireplace makes it a cosy and romantic setting in Winter.
Chateau Beau Belle also boasts a luxury self-catering 2 bedroom, en suite cottage that can accommodate up to 4 guests. The cottage has an open plan kitchen, dining room and lounge as well as a patio and braai. It is the perfect winelands escape and a great place to explore Stellenbosch and the Helderberg from. The setting of this wine estate is spectacular and the wines a pure labour of love, but what captures one’s imagination is the passion with which this family has dedicated their lives to realise their dream and how grateful they are that they can be living it.
