An ensemble of leading Russian performers will mesmerize audiences in ‘Stars of the Ballet Moscow’ at the Baxter Theatre from Wednesday June 26 to Sunday June 30.
Following a successful South African tour in 2011, the celebrated troupe, led by the renowned Yuri Vetrov, former director of the Bolshoi Ballet, returns to celebrate the music of two of the greatest Russian composers, Sergei Rachmaninov and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
Their new programme includes the one-act ballet ‘Paganini’ (choreographed by Leonid Lavrovsky), ‘Adagio’ from Rachmaninov’s ‘Symphony no. 2’ and ‘All by Myself’ (choreographed by Yuri Vetrov). The second half of the programme includes masterpieces of the classical ballet repertoire such as Tchaikovsky’s ‘Romeo and Juliet’ and extracts from ‘Swan Lake’, ‘The Sleeping Beauty’ and ‘The Nutcracker’.
