Dancing in Other Words Poetry Festival

For these two days, the Spier Manor House and Old Wine Cellar will host conversations, poetry readings and an evening of dance, and lovers of literature are invited to join masters of the craft in exploring the rhythms and imagery of the art. The word-fest will be curated by one of South Africa’s great poets, Breyten Breytenbach, and features other local legends, like Antjie Krog and Marlene van Niekerk, as well as renowned writers from as far afield as Nigeria, Slovenia, Holland and China, like Ko Un from South Korea and Carolyn Forché from the USA, to name just a few.

Wild Clover Hops Harvest Festival

This three-day long beer-themed family-friendly fiesta offers revelers a chance to sample a wide selection of first-rate locally brewed beers in one convenient spot. Wild Clover’s very own brand of craft brew will be on show, as will a variety of some of the country’s finest craft beer.

Greenpop Reforest Fest

With more than 4000 trees on the bill to be planted, the social initiative aims to, once again, revive the indigenous arbour of the Platbos forest near Gansbaai – deforestation, neglect and invasive alien species have rendered the forest unsustainable – and help the area reclaim its allure as a natural retreat sought after by those looking to escape the push and pull of the city.
