Soccer fans are in for a treat with the announcement that Liverpool FC will play Ajax Cape Town on 21 May 2013 at the Cape Town Stadium. Read more below:
The City of Cape Town is pleased to announce that it will bring the world-famous Liverpool Football Club to play at Cape Town Stadium at the end of May on Tuesday 21 May.
This match is one of a number in a line up curated by the City of Cape Town. The events are generating positive local and international media coverage, and are attracting travellers for extended weekends in Cape Town.
The fan-walk will be activated for the event and spectators can relive the excitement of the 2010 FIFA World Cup™ as they soak up the atmosphere.
Councillor Grant Pascoe, Mayoral Committee Member for Tourism, Events and Marketing, commented, “Cape Town is making headway as the events capital of South Africa. The success of hosting Bafana Bafana along with the Manchester United game recently held in Cape Town, has demonstrated the tremendous pulling power of soccer events at Cape Town Stadium. The successful hosting of sporting events at the Stadium not only positions Cape Town as a safe, exciting sporting destination, but also contributes to the financial sustainability of the Stadium.”
Ticket prices range from R150 – R350 and will be available at all Computicket, Shoprite, Shoprite Checkers outlets and Cape Town Tourism Visitor Information Centres from Thursday, 9 May 2013.
