The weather may be turning chillier, but thankfully ice cream doesn’t get any less delicious in winter. In a tiny shop hidden inside Tygervalley Mall a group of specially trained ice cream ninjas are chopping and churning out delectable custom-designed frozen treats.
Head Ninja Anton Fester says their concept is simple: premium ice cream with a multitude of yummy ingredients like astros, fudge and cookie dough mashed together on an ice cold slab right in front of your eyes. Add to that a generous dash of showmanship in the form of flaring ninjas who fling rather than scoop your ice cream and you are in for much more than just a taste experience.
The result of all of this is almost a million ice cream combinations like wasabi peas and Milo, or peanut butter and coconut. Basically if you can dream it they can make it. And if you can’t dream it you can always spin the in-store wheel of fortune and let fate decide.
Being a chocoholic I tried the most popular combination The Brown Bear, which is a mish-mash of chocolate ice cream, chocolate brownie, rolo and Belgian chocolate sauce. If you order the same combination with vanilla ice cream, it’s called a Polar Bear.
