Earthling activities for International Earth Day with Greenpop

This month celebrates International Earth Day on April 22, a global event day to demonstrate support for environmental protection and honor our planet.
To create awareness of this important day, Greenpop will be hosting a series of fun free activities for all keen earthlings to get involved in.

Earth Day Activities include:

Sunday April 21:
3pm – Cape Town Earth Cycle (meet at Greenmarket Square outside the Methodist Church – look out for the Greenpop Team in green capes). Meet at 3pm and cycle, skate, rollerblade (or whatever wheely petrol-free device you’d like) a cool city route all the way to the Yoga for Trees session that happens at 5pm.

5pm – Yoga for Trees (at the Sea Point Promenade next to the outdoor gym/white horses, opposite Glengariff Road). This is the final session of Greenpop’s FREE Yoga on the Prom taught by yogi Jax Jai. This yoga session is suitable for all ages and levels. There will be a mass collective yoga practice on the grass as well as the chance to make your Earth Day green pledges. Greenpop will also be selling tree saplings that people can take home and plant for Earth Day. Each sapling that you buy also represents a bigger tree that Greenpop will plant on your behalf in an under-greened area or reforestation project – so remember to bring R100 to plant your Earth Day tree.

Monday April 22:
9.30am to 1.30pm – Tree Planting Day with Harmony Primary School
Join in and help plant trees with the schoolchildren of Harmony Primary and other volunteers. Altogether 40 trees will be planted, all sponsored by Earthchild. Interested parties can meet at the school at 9.30am. RSVP to info@greenpop.org with ‘PLANT DAY EARTH DAY’ in the subject line if you’d like to join this event and include your cell phone number so that all the details and directions can be texted to you.
