Capetonians to break bread on slopes of Table Mountain

At noon on Sunday May 12, South Africans, regardless of race, colour or creed, will again come together on the slopes of Table Mountain to break bread, pray, laugh and eat for peace and unite against the violence that plagues our society and threatens our children.

Lunch will be artfully designed and prepared by Peter Tempelhof from The Cellers-Hohenort, The CTICC, and Dish Catering. Entertainment will be provided by Sipho Hotstix Mabuse, Nataniel, Sterling EQ, the Amy Biehl Choir and newcomer, Kristi Lowe. Noted guests will be Premier Zille, Jo-Anne Strauss, Michael Mol, Monique and Callie Strydom, Zapiro, Chester Williams, author Jillian Reilly, designer Kat van Duinen, and artists Kelly Gough and Igshaan Adams, amongst others.

Due to the success of last year’s event, one of the organisations Table Of Unity was able to sponsor was Operation Bobbi Bear’s Edu-Toy Programme, that goes into schools in the Durban area to teach children about rape, HIV transmission, and children’s rights.

Because of this programme over three hundred abused children have come forward and are now receiving vital services. It has also resulted in at least two arrests. We are currently sourcing a vehicle for Bobbi Bear to transport rape survivors in order for them to receive services.

* Tickets are R500 for VIP seating near the stage, R400 on the outer ends of the table, and R450 for groups of 10 or more. Tickets are available from Computicket, or on 021 702-2280, or at All proceeds from tickets sales and the auction on the day go to various charities.
