There aren’t many parts of the Waterfront that remain unexplored so imagine my surprise when I mistakenly stumbled on a gorgeous indoor market recently. I was actually looking for Musica when I accidentally discovered the V&A Market on the Wharf.
All thoughts of music and CD’s immediately disappeared from my mind as I set about exploring it.
Cape Town certainly adores a market so if you are tired of trying to shoehorn yourself into the crammed Biscuit Mill, then give this one a go some time. It offers the usual market fare like cheeses, jams, breads and pastries but being indoors means it’ll be perfect when the weather turns unpleasant in the coming weeks.
The market is a short walk from the Waterfront MyCiti stop and is opposite the Portswood parking garage.
I recently invested in a MyConnect card and am in love with the MyCiti for its safe and convenient mode of transport especially to the Waterfront, which can be a pain parking-wise.
I enjoyed V&A Market on the Wharf so much I returned a week later with a friend. We shared a massive Chelsea bun that was drizzled with a sensational butter icing for R18.
The market is open from Wednesday to Sunday offering a perfect mid-week option for those with some free time on their hands.
