‘Thank You For The Music’ is a production that is set to have music fans singing along to three groups’ hits from next week on.
The tribute to ABBA, Bee Gees and Queen will show at the Rivonia Barnyard Theatre from April 16 to May 26, taking audiences on a trip through space and time in the 70s and the 80s when glitz, glam and some of the greatest pop tunes ever written emerged.
The show features an 11-piece cast that covers all the hits of the three super groups.
‘Thank You For The Music’ kicks off during the early days of The Bee Gees in the late sixties, with harmonic soft rock hits such as ‘Words’, ‘I’ve Gotta Get a Message to You’, ‘Massachusetts’ and ‘To Love Somebody’. The cast will then take fans through an authentic impersonation of the Gibb Brothers’ falsetto as they go on to re-ignite the disco groove with standout numbers ‘You Should Be Dancing’, ‘Stayin’ Alive’ and ‘Jive Talking’.
The show then segues to songs from the days when ABBA lit up the music scene with their first hits ‘Ring Ring’ and ‘Waterloo’, after which they followed on with countless pop anthems like ‘Chiquitita’, ‘SOS’, ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Take a Chance on Me’ as well as power ballads ‘The Winner Takes it All’ and ‘Eagle’.
The cast then pays tribute to one of the greatest rock bands of all time – Queen, featuring one of the greatest voices in the history of rock – Freddie Mercury. Rock fans can look forward to the uplifting anthem ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’ and thought provoking ballad ‘Too Much Love Will Kill You’. The unforgettable hits ‘We Are the Champions’, ‘Who Wants to Live Forever’ and ‘The Show Must Go On’ will add an electrifying flare to the show.
‘Thank You For The Music’ will also pay tribute to the Broadway musicals associated with these groups as the hits from ‘Mamma Mia’, ‘Saturday Night Fever’ and ‘We Will Rock You’ are celebrated.
