MyCiTi introduces new services

There have been some changes to routes, with the opening of Gardens station and the introduction of a new generation of smaller buses. (CLICK IMAGE TO EXPAND TO FULL VIEW)

A01 Airport route

The Airport route now extends to the V&A Waterfront. Passengers can disembark at Civic Centre or continue on to the V&A Waterfront, stopping at Thibault Square, Stadium, Granger Bay, Breakwater or Waterfront stops without changing buses. This Airport extension replaces the section of the route between Civic Centre and the V&A Waterfront on the Gardens service. In the morning and afternoon peak hours, there will be extra buses on the route between the Civic Centre and the V&A Waterfront to provide a frequency of a bus every 10 minutes.
101 Gardens route
The new Gardens station has opened so MyCiTi buses no longer stop outside the Gardens Centre. This route travels further down Loop Street past the Cape Town International Convention Centre to the Civic Centre, and past the CTICC up Lower Long Street on the reverse journey. This means the bus does not travel down Strand Street and into Adderley Street any longer. Bus stops on Adderley Street now serve the (102) Salt River route while the St Georges stop in Strand Street and Bloem bus stops in Loop and Long streets are no longer in operation. Passengers travelling from Gardens to the V&A Waterfront will now change to the (A01) Airport route at Civic Centre station. The R5.30 fare from Gardens to the V&A Waterfront remains the same, provided passengers transfer directly within Civic Centre station.
New, smaller buses
The fleet of smaller, environmentally-friendly buses used on the (102) Salt River route are now also being used on the (101) Gardens–Civic Centre route and the (F14) Big Bay–Table View–Parklands East route in Table View. These buses are ideally suited to mixed traffic and narrow roads and the low floors ensure easy access for all, including the elderly, wheelchair users and those with luggage and prams. Each bus accommodates 25 passengers seated and 25 standing with space for a wheelchair and bicycles.
