Lovers of jazz, R&B and soul music are in for a treat when the warm up event to Joy of Jazz, Take The Road with Frank McComb and The Muffinz, hits the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City next week.
The event is one of the annual shows that form part of the lead up to the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival.
Aptly titled ‘The Road to Joy of Jazz’, these events give music lovers a taste of what will be on offer at the festival.
In the case of Frank McComb and The Muffinz both acts have been recognised for their original musical styles and the collaborative performance is one of the hottest tickets in town.
Frank McComb grew up in Cleveland, America and is renowned for his virtuoso piano and organ work that has made him a highly sought after session player. He has worked with many of the music industry’s best known personalities including Chaka Khan, Teddy Pendergrass and even Prince.
They may be newcomers to the music scene but anyone who has seen The Muffinz perform know that they are perfectly capable of holding their own against this industry heavyweight. The Muffinz is made up of five artists including DJ’s and rappers from all corners of the African continent.
Their eclectic mix of instrumental talents coupled with equally impressive vocal abilities make The Muffinz one of the most unique bands around.
* The event is happening on April, 6 and tickets start at R250 and are available through Computicket.
