Resiliency of women celebrated in new musical revue

Musical theatre fans can look forward to the musical revue ‘I Am What I Am’, which will be performed at Kalk Bay Theatre from March 6 to 16. The show is a cocktail of contemporary musical theatre songs that is bound to elicit thigh-slapping, fist-pumping excitement. It played to sold-out houses at Alexander Upstairs in 2012.

Directed by Garth Tavares, the show features the trio of rising stars Angela Inglis, Natasha Dryden and Bethany Dickson Mahnke, performing as The Pinups. Audiences will be able to enjoy music from shows such as ‘Wicked’, ‘Disenchanted’, ‘Edges’, ‘I Love You Because’, ‘Chorus Line’ and ‘I Love you, you’re perfect, now change’, to name a few.

The music and lyrics in the songs also helps to draw a comical contrast to the way these women truly feel inside. When life gave them lemons, they decided to chop them up and balance them neatly on three tequila shots.

* Performances will take place from Wednesdays to Saturdays at 8.30pm. Tickets for show only cost R100. Enjoy dinner before the show with dessert and coffee afterwards when guests can meet the performers. Show with two course meal costs R285 and show with three course meal costs R335.
