We went in search of the latest gadgets that are soon to be available in South Africa and after souring countless press releases and online announcements from manufacturers, we have found some interesting picks for techno savvy folk to look forward to in the coming months.
Huawei Smart phones
We never really took these guys seriously at first, to be honest. They designed entry level smart phones that were modestly priced but never offered as much as their competitors. However, to our surprise we found out that Huawei and Microsoft have been working together for quite some time now. Off course by now everyone has heard of Windows 8 and how Microsoft plans to roll out the operating system on tablets and smart devices. Well, they have teamed up with Huawei to create a new windows phone that is specially designed for Africa, which they have identified as one of the most rapidly growing technology markets in the world. The smart phone will be released in South Africa during February, Huawei has announced. Features of this device include a snappy dual core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon processor, 4 inch display and 420 hours of standby time and off course the Windows 8 operating system.
We know how frustrating it is to run out of power on your devices, especially when you really need to use your phone. With our plethora of electronic mobile devices these days we need mobile power. There have been a few products on the market but we have chosen the “Power Traveller Power Gorilla” as a good source of mobile power.
This device stores up to 20 hours of battery power and can power devices up to 24 volts. It is universal and can be used to power laptops, smart phones, Apple devices and more. The power source comes with charging pins for popular devices and it can be charged from various sources, including wall sockets and car cigarette lighter slots. It also packs a LCD screen that gives you the exact status on your power reserves and usage. We found this to be an incredibly handy piece of kit.
Mini Microscope for Iphone
This nifty little gadget clips onto your iPhone with its lens in front of the iPhone’s camera, transforming your device into a mini microscope. It has a zoom ability of 60x and three built in adjustable LED lights. We found this incredibly cool as you can take a picture of your discoveries and it fits perfectly into your pocket to take along on your adventures.
