Chris Brown at the Grand Arena this week.

He’s a singer, songwriter, actor, rapper, dancer, recording artist and winner of many prestigious awards and accolades. He’s a mega, mega-star. He’s the Grammy Award winning Chris Brown and he’s bringing his ‘Carpe Diem’ world tour to South Africa this month. Presented by local promoter, Canoc Productions in association with Channel O, GagasiFM, YFM, GoodHope FM and Independent Newspapers, this multi platinum will perform at the Coca Cola Dome, Johannesburg on Saturday December 15, thereafter at People’s Park, Moses Mabhida Stadium, Durban on Monday, December 17 and ending the SA leg of the Carpe Diem tour with two concerts at the Grand West Arena, Cape Town on Wednesday December 19 and Thursday December 20.

Loosely translated, “Carpe Diem” means ‘seize the day” and fans across Europe have seized the opportunity to enjoy and support the November/December 2012 tour. Now it’s time for local fans to see their idol live in concert and to experience the amazing futuristic staging with stunning lighting effects and hidden doors; hydraulic platforms framed by huge screens showcasing funky visuals and animations throughout the show. The dancers have several costumes, some incorporating flashing LED’s and some taking inspiration from Ancient South East Asian dynasties. It’s an incredible visual presentation particularly as all staging and costume design was inspired or co-designed by Chris Brown himself.

In 2005, show business natural 16-year old Chris Brown emerged from small town Tappahannock, Virginia. His career rose swiftly, as his promising skills drew comparisons to his idols Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.
His self-titled debut album, which was certified double platinum sold over 3 million copies, making Chris Brown the newest American R&B sensation. In his short but highly successful music career, the 23-year old singer-songwriter has collaborated with some of the biggest names in R&B, pop and hip hop including Juelz Santana, Lil Wayne, T-Pain, Justin Bieber, Busta Rhymes, David Guetta and Big Sean.

Brown’s number one hits include the platinum-plus status ‘With You’, ‘Forever’ and ‘Kiss Kiss’ (featuring and produced by T-Pain). Last year he released ‘F.A.M.E’ with hit songs like ‘Next To You’ (featuring Justin Bieber and “Yeah3x”). The album was awarded a Grammy for ‘Best R&B album’ and won the ‘Album of the Year’ prize at the 2011 Soul Train Music Awards. F
