Theatrical enchantment for the kids at Cavendish Square

Theatrical enchantment for the kids at Cavendish Square

After a completely sold out run in 2010 at the Baxter Theatre, The Lilliput Children’s Theatre Company will return to Cavendish Square with ‘Pinocchio’ in the December school holidays.
‘Pinocchio’, which has never been performed at Cavendish Square before, will premiere on Monday December 10 and will run until Saturday December 22 at 11.30am from Monday to Saturday.

There will be only 12 performances of ‘Pinocchio’ and the show will be staged on the first Floor of Cavendish Square, next to Stuttafords (in the old Billabong shop).
‘Pinocchio’ is the magical fairytale based on the original Carlo Collodi classic of the little wooden puppet who has to prove himself to be honest and trustworthy before he can become a real live boy, with help and guidance from Jiminy Cricket and the Blue Fairy.

Children can follow Pinocchio and Gepetto on their adventures to Pleasure Land, Stromboli’s Puppet Theatre and inside a whale. Watch Pinocchio’s nose grow as he lies to Gepetto and see Jiminy Cricket magically turn into a life-size cricket. This show is a fairytale classic, full of audience participation for the whole family to enjoy. Duration is 45 minutes.

Children are encouraged to bring a second-hand toy or a present for an underprivileged child to the show and place it under Pinocchio’s Christmas tree after the show.
These toys and presents will be distributed to various children’s homes and safe houses on Christmas Eve in the Cape Peninsula.
This enchanting fairytale was adapted and directed by Elton John Duffy, who will also play Gepetto.

Also starring will be theatre professionals Liande Valentyn, Karen Visser, Monique Rockman and Bronwyn Reddy as Pinocchio. Music and Lyrics are by Pippa Ross-Duffy.
