Best Oscar Foreign Language Film nominee ‘Bullhead’ comes to Cinema Nouveau

Cinema Nouveau audiences will be able to catch the third title in the 2012 Best Oscar Foreign Language Film Nominees series from November 23.
‘Bullhead’, a Belgian Drama directed by Michael R. Roskam, is the story of a young dominating cattle farmer named Jacky Vanmarsenille (played by Matthias Schoenaerts).

A crime drama, the film takes audiences on a journey of gangsters and farmers, set against the backdrop of the Belgian ‘cattle hormone mafia’.
The story unfolds as steroid-user Vanmarsenilleis approached by an unscrupulous veterinarian to enter into a shady deal with a notorious beef trader.

But the assassination of a federal policeman and an unexpected confrontation with a mysterious secret from his past sets in motion a chain of events with far-reaching consequences.

Produced by Savage Film & Eyeworks, ‘Bullhead’ is an exciting tragedy about fate, lost innocence and friendship, crime and punishment, as well as conflicting desires and the irreversibility of a man’s destiny. The thrilling title will be screened at both Cinema Nouveau sites in Cape Town, namely Cavendish and the V&A Waterfront.
