The magic of National Theatre Live continues at Nouveau

As part of Cinema Nouveau’s exclusive National Theatre Live offering, ‘The Last of the Haussmans’ will screen ‘live’ on the big screen from November 17. This is the second acclaimed play to be shown in this unique fourth season of National Theatre Live, following on from ‘The Curious Incident of the Dog in Night-Time’.

Given 5 Stars by the Sunday Telegraph, ‘The Last of the Haussmans’ is the portrayal of a family that is losing its grip. The feisty and anarchic high society Judy Haussman, played by Julie Walters, holds court in a deteriorating Art Deco house on the Devon coast, while remaining in spirit with the Ashrams of the 1960s.

After an operation her children – played by Rory Kinnear and Helen McCrory – and her granddaughter, join her. A couple of other colourful characters, including local doctor Peter and troubled teenager Daniel, too soon find themselves intertwined in the Haussmans’ lives. The unlikely group share the summer months together drinking through the day, revealing infatuations, resentments, free love and failure.

Directed by actor Stephen Beresford, The Observer said, “Stephen Beresford’s first play is a knockout – entertaining, sad and outrageous.”Award-winning Julie Walters has also been applauded across the globe for her performance in ‘The Last of the Haussmans’. The Daily Express said, “‘Julie Walters’s sense of comic timing is remarkable, a performance that mingles humour with great pathos.” Humour and compassion are strong themes in this witty and esteemed play, forming part of the best of British theatre broadcast live to cinemas worldwide.

‘The Last of the Haussmans’ will screen at Cinema Nouveau theatres in Cavendish Square and V&A Waterfront on November 17, 18, 21 and 22. Experience one of the world’s most popular theatre plays in the comfort of your favourite Cinema Nouveau theatre.
