Playwright Craig Eisenstein’s award-winning new South African play ‘Your Hand in My Pocket’, is being staged at the Catalina Theatre at Wilson’s Wharf, in Durban, from November 8 to 18.
The playwright walked off with the R30000 prize at the national finals of the Performing Arts Network of South Africa (Pansa) and National Lottery Distribution Fund (NLDTF) sponsored writing competition at the Catalina Theatre, in Durban, earlier this year.
Directed by William le Cordeur, director of theatre at Michaelhouse in Balgowan, and starring Caitlin Kilburn, Clinton Small and Avi Maistry, the play tells the story of two people, Tomithy and Norah, who meet in a park. A relationship develops between them under the stars and over ready-made meals. But even the light of stars cast their own small shadows and, by the brightness of later days, a dark history can no longer remain hidden in their newly blossomed relationship.
* Tickets for ‘Your Hand in My Pocket’, which can be seen at 8 pm nightly, cost R60.
