Award-winning comedian Martin Evans will bring his unique brand of stand-up comedy to Kalk Bay Theatre for a limited season from November 7 to 25.
In ‘FBPK’, the funny man and storyteller regales the audeince with tales of his road to recovery and self-discovery following a life-changing accident. It’s an amusing, personal and no-holds-barred account of his own real-life experiences. The show won a Standard Bank Ovation Award at the 2011 National Arts Festival in Grahamstown.
“No, we can’t tell you what FBPK stands for – it’s too rude to print – but for the over 16s we can guarantee it’s an hilarious night out,” says Simon Cooper, owner of Kalk Bay Theatre. “Martin was recently seen on our stage with Rob van Vuuren in ‘Pants on Fire’, which won a 2012 Standard Bank Ovation Award for comedy. He has dazzled audiences all over Europe and South Africa and we look forward to welcoming him back to Kalk Bay Theatre in his one-man show.”
Evans has been described as having one of the finest comedy minds in the business, with a sense of humour that is sharp, intelligent and sophisticated.
A popular MC and radio presenter, his many international accolades include winning the Laughing Horse Big Big New Act Competition at the London Comedy Festival and winning the London Heats of the FHM Holsten Pils competition. He most appeared on the South African edition of ‘Come Dine With Me’ on BBC Entertainment, and will appear on the Comedy Central Special on Channel 122 on 15 November.
‘FBPK’ will be performed from Wednesday to Saturdays at 8.30pm and on Sundays at 8pm.
