The heart of the Mother City is about to light up again as Cape Town’s Diwali Festival makes its much anticipated return. This vibrant, colourful event, which has been celebrated in this city since 2009, is the biggest and brightest of all the Hindu festivals and will take place at Ratanga Junction’s Walled City at Century City on Saturday October 27, midday until midnight.
The theme for this year is “Global Spirit of Diwali” and it offers the perfect opportunity to showcase the splendour of Indian culture. This year’s program highlights include the Li’l Miss Cape Town Diwali Festival, an engaging Hypnotist and Mentalist show that will keep the audience enraptured and dance items ranging from Classical Indian & Folk Dance to Oriental, Asian Dance & Music, Latino & African fusions and of course Bollywood at its absolute best.
Eastern Mosaic’s top 20 presenter search finalists Mishal Mookrey and Sanvir Manilal, accompanied by Ebrahim Hoosen and Nitasha Pillay will be the emcees for the event and will offer attendees many opportunities to win fantastic prizes.
Bhangra deejays Kuben K, Umesh Vallabh and Lotus FM’s Fahim Jamadar will also keep you entertained throughout the day. Enjoy a spectacular stage production, meet your favourite celebs and get down to some Bollywood beats at the Bhangra Bash.
Diwali is the perfect outing for families as kids can enjoy fun and games in a safe, supervised area and while moms shop, dads can catch live matches hosted by DSTV Indian at the Sports Café.
There will be fantastic prizes on offer, and this year the Festival will debut the first ever Lil’ Miss CTDF, so make sure to enter your little princess. In true Diwali spirit the festival will end with a brilliant fireworks display.
