Medical ways to improve wrinkles
A visit to a dermatologist will help with knowing more about your skin concerns. There are many ways of correcting fine lines and wrinkles with serums, moisturisers or fillers. However, the best way is to read and gain knowledge about a chemical peel, laser treatments or collagen filler injections before actually trying out any of these processes. Many of these can be harsh on the skin, which may lead to breakouts and sagging later on. Sometimes you may need as many as six treatments to achieve the look you want and this could be very expensive.
Deep wrinkles around the mouth are caused by loss of volume in the tissue below the skin. This can be corrected by fillers, the most popular being Radiesse, which is calcium-based and forms new collagen. This lasts up to 18 months. Then there is sculptra, which is a form of synthetic acid that forces the skin to make more collagen. This lasts up to two years. However both these have to be injected deeply into the cheeks and under topical anesthetic. You may also need mild sedation and nerve blocking injections. A week or two is needed to recover from the swollen, red, oozing skin. The true result is only seen after six months.
Then there is the chemical peel, which is said to improve and smooth the texture of the skin. Many of these require repeat visits and a sun screen with a SPF of at least 30 must be used for several months after treatment. Chemical peels are performed on hands, face and neck. This is said to treat wrinkles, reduce fine lines around the mouth, improve mild scarring and treat certain types of acne. A carbon dioxide laser resurfacing is a cosmetic surgical procedure that can be used for a facelift, brow lift, eyelid lift or soft tissue filler. The application process causes skin to regenerate.
As much as we all want to have great looking skin, putting your body through chemical procedures requires patience and understanding. No chemical process corrects itself overnight. It is a long journey with several visits to refill the area, so be prepared. Make sure that a good hydrating mask and moisturiser is used which will soothe the skin and avoid dryness.
