Skincare for men
Unlike women, men do not have that many options when it comes to beauty regimes and treatments. Most men feel embarrassed to use anti-aging products, skin masks and scrubs, but these are all-important if you want to maintain a healthy, radiant-looking skin.
Many TV celebrities are subjected to heavy make-up when on air and the constant replacing of powder often causes dryness to the skin. You don’t have to be a celebrity though to suffer from dry skin. Do not despair; there are ways to replace moisture, get rid of fine lines and give your skin the love it needs.
Figure out the type of skin you have, whether it is oily or dry. Do not be in a rush and just grab any product off the shelf; read the labels and ingredients. A visit to a beauty consultant will help achieve this and will inform you of the correct products to use. Shaving affects the skin, so choose a razor that works for you.
Incorrect shaving can cause poor skin texture that is not very attractive. Smoking also prematurely ages the skin, causes wrinkles and is of course bad for your health too.
Start with a basic skin care routine that is cleansing, protecting and moisturising. Most men spend more time outdoors, so a good sunscreen is vital.
Besides protecting your skin against the harsh UVA and UVB rays, the benefit of a sunscreen is that it also moisturises your skin and can also prevent skin cancer. Remember that if you sweat a lot, always re-apply sunscreen for optimal benefit.
The gentlest products thus far are the Nivea range. The aftershave cream is soft and creamy and when applied, it is cooling to the face. You can moisturise after this as well; this will just give you the added benefit of improving the look and condition of your skin. Although acne is not a serious health threat, it can cause scars, so extra precaution should be taken.
Never shave over the pimple; rather use a gentle shaving cream and shave lightly. Do not use an exfoliator that contains harsh granules; it will just aggravate the skin and cause a rash. A mild creamy one will get rid of access oil and help the skin restore its natural balance.
A good cream containing benzoyl will help dry out the pimple and avoid further break outs. Always keep your skin clean by cleansing twice a day, morning and evening. Avoiding too much of oily foods and eating right can also help prevent acne.
The skin is the largest organ of the body. Besides serving as a protective layer against elements, it also breathes and perspires to control your body temperature. So, make sure that your diet and general health is maintained to achieve great looking skin.
