The Abba Voulez Vous – Mamma Mia! Concert tour is the best Abba tribute show and will be visiting South Africa in April this year. Following the huge success of the Mamma Mia! stage show and film, Voulez Vous have produced their 20th anniversary concert to include hits from this international phenomenon. This brand new production is a collaboration of video projections of Abba, as well as scenes from the smash hit film Mamma Mia! cleverly merged into Voulez Vous’ own live interpretations of Abba’s hits.
Voulez Vous is the world’s foremost Abba tribute production and captures the sheer brilliance of Abba’s music perfectly. Voulez Vous will visit South Africa with a series of concerts in April, at the following venues:

The Mamma Mia! concert is an extravaganza of sparkle and glam with sensational sound, lighting and fantastic choreography. With over 30 flamboyant costumes, some of which have been designed specifically for this production, the show guarantees not to disappoint! And not wanting to disappoint the “die-hard” Abba fans, Voulez Vous are careful to feature some of Abba’s less familiar tracks as well.
Frans Swart, producer of Voulez Vous in South Africa, is very excited about bringing the production over from the United Kingdom. “I saw the production whilst visiting London, and realised that South Africans will thoroughly enjoy Voulez Vous. The talented cast become the original Abba members Agnetha, Benny, Björn and Frida. This is Voulez Vous’ twentieth year as the world’s favourite Abba tribute production, and it is being celebrated with their new Mamma Mia! concert tour. The first half of the show is dedicated to the Mamma Mia phenomenon, with the second half churning out one Abba hit after another. Then it is party time and Abba fans will certainly enjoy it. There is so much energy in the show and with the cast looking, performing and singing like the original band, one would be forgiven to think that this is the real deal. To tour with the production for twenty years is no easy feat and we are very fortunate to host them in South Africa”.
Since launching 20 years ago, Voulez Vous have had many highlights appearing alongside celebrities such as Freddie Starr, Jimmy James, Leo Sayer, The Sweet, 3 Degrees and Mica Paris amongst others. They were requested to play at a conference in Blackpool in the 90’s by the then Prime Minister, John Major and entertained at a Children’s Variety Club Awards Charity with Sir Cliff Richard, Bruce Forsyth, Lionel Blaire, Jools Holland and Carol Vordeman in London. They also toured the globe and performed in Dubai, Kuala Lumpur, Germany, Ireland and Thailand. Voulez Vous also appeared at the launch of The Abba Book and were actually featured in the book!!
Voulez Vous consists of Sara Horner as Agnetha, Emma Kelsey as Frida, Pete Tate as Benny and Dave Monks as Björn, with Dean Cherryholme on drums and Mike James on bass. Sara began dancing at the age of three and remembers at the tender age of only six years singing ‘If I only had a brain’ dressed as a scarecrow and thinking “what fun this is going to be if I did it every day!” Sara played the leading role of Maid Marion on the M&M Productions of Robin Hood, as well as the leading role of John Spillers’ productions of Snow White. Sara then when on to work for Mirage Shows and Productions Ltd as a singer/dancer, travelling the Caribbean, Orinoco River and Amazon River, before joining Voulez Vous in 2010.
At a very young age Emma attended dance classes and began performing in many productions. At sixteen she was awarded a grant and a place at the highly acclaimed Doreen Bird College of Performing Arts in Kent. Emma successfully completed a three year course and upon leaving the college went on to work as a dance/vocalist all around the world. Emma choreographed the latest Mamma Mia! Concert and has had many new fantastic vibrant costumes made – some replicating Abba’s and some totally new designs – created to add even more colour, sparkle and glam to the show!
Pete began his musical career learning his trade in the clubs in and around Yorkshire, backing artistes singing all the popular music of The Beatles, The Who, The Rolling Stones, Abba, Bee Gees and many more. Pete’s great talent for music has enabled him to work consistently and play with stars such as Jane McDonald, Edwin Starr and many more top cabaret acts. He toured extensively throughout the UK with Stars in Your Eyes, a showcase of all the finalists from the famous television series – acts including tributes to Rod Steward, Marti Pellow and Elton John. When not touring with Voulez Vous, Pete enjoys great success playing with his own band, Red Eye, playing popular music.
Dave began his musical career as a young boy, following in his older brother’s footsteps. With a microphone plugged into an old record player Dave was endlessly learning The Beatles harmonies! Whilst producing Voulez Vouz’ first Show in 1991, Dave had the mammoth task of working out all the music parts and Abba’s renowned difficult harmonies, as well as playing the role of Björn – which he still portrays today!
