A morning of pampering with the girls

It’s not often that three girlfriends have time in their busy schedule to enjoy a morning together. For the last couple of months, I have been trying to get together with two of my girlfriends (Kia Johnson and Leigh-Anne Williams) to enjoy a morning of breakfast, chatting and pampering. Finally, after months of rescheduling, we found time to meet up at the Radisson Blu hotel in Cape Town for breakfast followed by a pedicure at Quantum Spa.

This was our first time at Quantum Spa, which is the brainchild of wellness guru and long-time promoter of “healthy habits” in South Africa, Rob Cowling. Their world class facilities include 10 themed treatment rooms, heated indoor Vitality pool with relaxation deck, Spa cuisine, fully equipped Fitness Centre (Technogym) overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and changing rooms with beech saunas.

Our morning together included a wonderful buffet brunch at the Radisson Blu, which saw the three of us trying out almost everything on offer on the menu. The great service and delicious food just added to the beautiful backdrop – a picturesque setting of Table Mountain to our right and the Atlantic Ocean to our left. We found ourselves finally relaxing after a busy morning with the soothing sounds of the ocean and seagulls. The feeling we all agreed, gave us the sensation of being on a yacht on the Atlantic Ocean.

We then headed off for our treatment at Quantum Spa and we were totally blown away by this amazing establishment that includes everything from massages to body and skincare therapies and their signature treatment – The Quantum-Encounter, whereby your intuition guides you to select a coloured stone, indicating to your therapist what oils to use in your treatment. Heated volcanic stones are placed on specific energy points, incorporated with therapeutic massage. This combination results in relieving pain and tension by improving circulation and unblocking stagnated energy, giving one a sense of reconnecting with mind and body, creating the sense of wellbeing. All treatments are performed using both South African manufactured and internationally manufactured products. The two key drivers in the development of the Quantum Spa brand were the recognition of the importance of the use of “energy” in preventive and healing processes in the spa environment, and the growing acceptance of Energy Medicine in healthcare worldwide.

We spent a wonderful morning together being pampered by the team from Quantum Spa and would recommend this to anyone who needs to take a break from their busy schedule, or even just a morning out with the girls.
