Capetonians can look forward to a rare opportunity of seeing flamenco guitarist supreme Saudiq Khan live in concert outdoors, in De Waal Park on Sunday 18 March.
Saudiq’s performance will be the penultimate in the series of nine free Summer Concerts in the Park, which launched in November last year. Thousands have flocked to the prestine park to see some of Cape Town’s most esteemed artists take to the park’s beautiful Edwardian bandstand, in this Friends of De Waal Park initiative, sponsored by Re/Max Living.
Khan’s unbelievable technique, as well as his love for flamenco music, was nurtured in the heart of flamenco, Seville Spain, where he spent 9 months following the footsteps of, and learning from some of the Flamenco greats. Joined by his talented two-piece band, Saudiq’s instrumental showcase of cutting edge rhytms, passionate Flamenco and Latin music with a dash of jazz, plus original works, is not to be missed.
Young and old are invited to enjoy Saudiq’s performance in the bandstand Sunday the 18th of March. The performance will commence at 16h00, and entrance is free! Concert-goers are encouraged to arrive from 15h00, and bring their own picnics (no food or drinks will be for sale), chairs, sun umbrellas, rugs, etc. De Waal Park is located on Molteno Road with entrances on Molteno, Upper Orange and Camp Streets.
