Get your family and friends together for a fun-filled day at Nederburg when the 2012 Ommiberg Round the Rock Wine Festival takes the Paarl Wine Route by storm on Saturday, March 10.
Enjoy a refreshing glass of Nederburg bubbly on arrival. Taste some young wines from the 2012 vintage straight from the tank or barrel, and compare them with Nederburg’s market-ready offerings. Onion tarts, to complement the young wines, will be available.
Relax and enjoy live music in front of the historic manor house by Newton & Co, a four-piece band with a repertoire from country to rock, from blues to folk; and Synchronicity, a popular vocal duo from Cape Town with an equally wide range. Try the various food and drink options on sale in the lush gardens around the manor house, including delicious meat from the braai, summer salads, picnic platters brimming with local produce and scrumptious ciabatta sandwiches. Free cellar tours at 11:00 and 14:00 are also on offer.
Only 50 people will be able to take part in harvesting and stomping grapes. This will take place from 11:00 to 13:00, so booking, at R150 per person, is essential. A light lunch is included.
A wine-blending experience in the visitors’ centre which can accommodate 50 people, is another option that must be pre-booked. It costs R75 per person and runs from 11:00 to 12:30.
Add to all of the above a jumping castle for the kids, games of boule and croquet and more, and what you get is a perfect Saturday at South Africa’s most-awarded winery.
Saturday 10 March from 10am.
