On Sunday Night the 84th Academy awards was held in the US with Hollywood A Listers walking down the red carpet and showing off their fashion. In South Africa, the Oscar Action was aired on television on Monday night, and for the sixth year Glamour Magazine Hosted their own Oscar Party at The Table Bay Hotel. Glamour readers got the opportunity to mingle with South African celebrities on the red carpet. The evening included a three course meal, as well as lovely wines from Mischa Wine Estate.

We had an amazing soup for starter, Kingklip cooked perfectly for mains and a decadent chocolate cake dessert. This had everyone licking their lips. It wasn’t only the delicious food that got everyone talking. The lovely goodie bags were almost true to the Oscars, valued at over R500 including vouchers from Sunglass Hut and fragrances from David and Be.

The South African A-listers who attended were Jo Anne Strauss; Lee Summers; Elana; Bjorn Steinbach and Natalie Becker. Footballer and presenter Ryan Botha looked handsome in his dark suit and he accessorized it perfectly with his gorgeous girlfriend Gina Goldsmith.Glamour editor Pnina set the fashion standard by wearing a beautiful Vivienne gown, vintage clutch bag and shoes. Joanne Strauss showed off her beautiful figure by wearing a dress by Gideon, Gucci bag and Jimmy Choo Shoes.Local designers were the flavour of the night: Lee Summers wore a dress from Craig Jacobs and Elana Africa wore Marion and Lindi. Even though I’m still on crutches after a bad fall at the Dusi Canoe Marathon, I was master of ceremonies and gave away some amazing hampers from Triumph for the lucky ladies in the audience. I wore a glamorous pink Gavin Rajah Gown from his latest collection. I even received a tweet from Gavin saying I looked amazing.

Some tweets that stood out on the evening:

Ryan Botha Tweeted just before the event: “Arriving home to the stunning @GinaGoldsmith…no complaints”

Lee Summers Tweeted: “When I win an Oscar, I plan on cuddling with it at night.. Until that happens I am going to cuddle my goodie bag from the #GlamourOscars”

The evening was a wonderful combination of Glamour readers and celebrities enjoying the glitz and glamour of Hollywood right on our doorstep.
